Welsh composer Hilary Tann’s (b. 1947) music has influences from Wales, the Adirondacks (USA) where she now lives, and from Japan. Numerous organizations have supported her work, including the Welsh Arts Council, New York State Council on the Arts, and National Endowment for the Arts. Her music is published by Oxford University Press.
This programme is performed with brilliance and sensitivity by Matthew Jones and Ensemble with Elizabeth Donovan (soprano) and recorded in the presence of the composer. Matthew was violist with the prize-winning Badke Quartet and his recent recital venues include Carnegie Hall, Purcell Room, St. Martin-in-the-Fields and St. David’s Hall. Elizabeth was winner of the 2002 Welsh Singer Competition; she has sung many roles for Welsh National Opera and performed as Brigitta in Iolante at the 2005 BBC Proms.
